Dr Nicholas (Nick) C Caro MD has developed a revolutionary
new technique believed to be effective in treating presbyopia.

Dr. Nick Caro has been at the forefront of new technologies. He was one of the first doctors in Chicago to perform LASIK.

The center was a FDA test site. He also has developed several LASIK performing instruments.

Dr. Nick Caro's current research focuses on a non-invasive method for treating presbyopia, the type of farsightedness caused by aging.

When testing is completed and FDA approval given, Dr. Caro believes that the clips will revolutionize the treatment of presbyopia and glaucoma.

He has invented a small clip that is placed on the white part of the eye to tightened muscles that lose elasticity during aging. The clips eliminate the need for reading glasses.

Presbyopia is an eye condition that occurs as a part of normal aging. Although the process occurs gradually over a number of years, symptoms are usually noticeable between 40-45 and continue to develop until the process stabilizes some 10 years later.

As individuals age, the crystalline lens in the eye becomes less flexible and elastic and the eye muscles become less effective. These changes result in an inadequate adjustment of the lens so that close objects appear blurry. Currently the only available treatment is reading glasses.

This technique involves the placement of four small clips on the outer part of the eye, which enables the eye to focus on near objects again. The procedure is now in clinical trials and participants in early studies have reported an improvement in near vision generally within 48 hours following the procedure.
